Japanese technologies may contribute to the infrastructure in Brazil and so it also strengthens a mid- to long-term relationship between Japan and Brazil. The centralized power network of the 20th century was effective; however the new renewable energy sources are being more and more incorporated in the network that will change old concepts.
The University of Tokyo will introduce a power network using the new technology, which can be used to bring in power infrastructure to urban areas and areas with no power. The topics covered would be low cost electrification, using system with rechargeable batteries in urban areas to ensure no blackouts, the stabilization of the main grid, and so on.
The Universidade de São Paulo will shows the status of the Brazilian power network, the government plans for next years, the industry efforts, and show experimental cases related to the smart grids area.
Therefore, in these sessions, we will focus on the subject of possibilities to use smart grids technologies in the Brazilian power network as well as research exchanges that can contribute to establishing a good mid- to long-term relationship between Japan and Brazil through specific projects.
