Abstract

This workshop aims at providing opportunities for students and researchers in Brazil and Japan to discuss marine issues including naval architecture, marine science, offshore and other marine industries and fisheries. Brazil and Japan have a huge exclusive economic zone (EEZ). The area of EEZ for Brazil is the 9th largest in the world, and that of Japan is the 6th largest. Both countries have ample potentials in future collaborations for researches and businesses in marine issues. Japan has the world leading technology for ship technologies and seafloor exploration while Brazil has experiences of deep water development. Both countries are also expected to collaborate each other in fishery resource management and to exchange information on seafood markets in order to facilitate conservation and sustainable use of the world fishery resources.
